Ezekiel Trust Community Kindergarten

The kindergarten was established in February 1988 and is run by the Ezekiel Trust Community Kindergarten Management Committee, as part of the Ezekiel Trust. It is also member of several national bodies including the Early Childhood Council and the Christian Early Childhood Education Association of Aotearoa. We are registered with the Early Childhood section of the Ministry of Education and are licensed to take 25 children per session, from the ages of 2 ½ to 5 years. Our licence is displayed in the kindergarten and we are reviewed on a regular basis by the Education Review Office. We have highly competent full and part time staff who are totally committed to excellence in every aspect of our kindergarten life and ministry.

Learning at kindergarten happens constantly, sometimes as specifically planned learning experiences such as activity time, mat time and outdoor time, but also as spontaneous play as a result of the programme and equipment provided. When planning the programme we take into account children’s development, interests and information gathered from observations and assessments.

We also operate a session specifically for 4 year olds. This session is designed to extend the children through group activities. This session is not compulsory and indeed it is not possible to accommodate all 4 year olds. However all 4 year olds do receive a homework book.

We integrate Christian values, Bible stories and songs into all aspects of our programme. Our programme also incorporates Te Whaariki, the national curriculum for New Zealand Early Childhood Education and our Christian philosophy.
