24 October 2017
Dear Parents / Caregivers,
2017 Term 4 Monday 16 October - Friday 8 December (8 weeks)
2018 Term 1 starts Tuesday 30 January
Kindy Show: This year we will be presenting our kindy show on the evening of Monday 27 November. The children have already begun choosing their parts and planning it with us. Please keep this night free. You will receive more information closer to the time.
Sunhats: Our Sun Safety Policy states that staff and children will wear sunhats when outside in Terms 1 and 4 of each year. To help us comply with this policy please ensure your child has a named sunhat in their bag each day during this term, regardless of the weather. Hats should be full brimmed or have a peak and flaps. You may find it easier to have a hat especially for kindy, which can then be left in your child’s bag. To manage the risk of skin damage from exposure to the sun, children who do not have their own sunhats will have limited time outside.
Mobile Phone: A mobile phone has been purchased for kindy use in addition to our landline. The number is 027 525 6850.
Fees: These are $3.00 per hour for those children not receiving ‘20 hours ECE’ and there are 8 weeks in this term. For those enrolled on Mondays you do not have to pay for Labour Day 23rd October. There is a discount available for those doing full day sessions who use all their ‘20 ECE’ hours with us. Please collect your invoice from beside the sign-in book as it becomes available. If you would like to pay your fees via the internet please see me. Thank you to those people who have already paid their fees.
I am involved in a year long professional development opportunity provided by the Ministry of Education and ERO (Education Review Office). It is supporting the implementation of Te Whariki 2017, the updated early childhood curriculum, and will form part of our internal evaluation. As a staff we are also participating in some webinars about these changes to the curriculum.
Thank you to those of you who shared something from your cultural heritage with us recently. It provided a wonderful variety of learning opportunities for the children and staff.
